Angry biker punches teen following smash

Published on 12th April 2007 in News

A Snaith teenager needed hospital treatment recently after an assault in which one motorbike rider punched him in the face and another rode over his bike.

The 14-year-old victim was riding along Pontefract Road in the direction of Gowdall between 6.30pm and 7pm on Sunday, April 1 when he heard motorbikes approaching from behind.

He tried to move onto the pavement to get out of their way but as he did so the chain came off his bike, causing him to fall onto the pavement and the bike to land in the road.

One of the motocycles, believed to be on an Aprilia moped, rode over the front wheel of his bike.

The rider of the second motorbike - described as a chopper-style motorbike - stopped and he and the victim had a conversation about the incident.

The Aprilia rider then returned, took off his helmet and became aggressive towards the cyclist.

He punched the victim once in the head before both men rode off towards Gowdall.

The victim was left with a small bruise to his left eye, was sick and felt dizzy.

He was taken to Goole Hospital for treatment but was allowed to go home the same night.

Both offenders were aged between 18 and 19.

The Aprilia rider was five feet nine inches tall, of thin build with blond hair and a spotty face.

He was wearing a black, orange and red motorbike jacket and motorbike racer-style trousers and riding an Aprilia moped in black, orange and red.

The other rider was wearing a black helmet and black leathers and riding a black chopper style motorbike with chrome handlebars and an engine guard.

A member of the public went to help the cyclist and police would like to speak to them or anyone else who has any information about the incident.

The number to call is 0845 6060 222, quoting log number 674 of April 1.
