Members of the public were queueing up last week to catch a glimpse of Goole's new charity shop as it opened its doors for the first time.

The Hospice Shop in Boothferry Road, next to the Goole Times, officially opened last Friday, March 30 and is set to raise funds for Hull-based Dove House Hospice and Scunthorpe-based Lindsey Lodge Hospice.

John Fenwick, chief executive of Dove House Hospice, told the Goole Times that it had been 'encouraging' to see people looking forward to the shop's opening. "It shows that we've got our branding right," he said.

"This collaboration is something that we are extremely grateful for. Both hospices take patients from Goole, so it is right that we work together, and we hope that this venture will be a successful one."

Peter Axe, chairman of Lindsey Lodge Hospice, added: "I wish The Hospice Shop all the best of luck, and look forward to co-operation between the two hospices."

The Hospice Shop is appealing to anyone with some spare time on their hands to come forward and volunteer to work at the shop for just two hours each week. If you would like to help, contact Lindsay Mason, volunteer services manager on 01482 785769.
