A welcome taste of home

Increasing demand for home foods from the growing Polish community in Britain saw Tesco in Goole launch a dedicated ethnic food range for Poles last week.
Tesco in Boothferry Road has joined a number of other branches across Britain in stocking a growing selection of imported Polish foods such as Borsch, pickled vegetables and vodka.
"We've had so much demand in the last six months for Polish foods that we spoke to the Polish community to find out the kinds of things they they missed the most from home," said Martin Koyce, Tesco ethnic project manager.
"But there is also a big demand from the huge number of people born in Britain of Polish parents who want foods that will remind them of their Polish roots."
The range on goods on sale include typical Polish fare such as salty sticks, sauerkraut soup, pea soup with pork and sausage, white sour soup and meatballs with tomato sauce, with supplies coming over from Poland on a weekly basis.
