Wheat bag fire warning
Published on 29th March 2007 in News
Firefighters are stressing the need to follow instructions carefully when using therapeutic heating pads.
A wheat bag, which is used to relieve aching joints, caused a house fire in Hull after it was left in the microwave for too long and on too high a setting.
Glenn Ramsden, of Humberside Fire and Rescue Service, said: "Whilst wheat therapy bags are excellent, if users do not take notice of the instructions it is possible you could end up with a fire and clearly that fire will put life at risk."
