New traffic measures planned in bid to ease town centre parking nightmare

New waiting restrictions could soon be in place in Snaith town centre following a draft Traffic Regulation Order that has been issued by the East Riding of Yorkshire Council (ERYC).
The council has proposed that a number of restrictions are placed around the town centre, including a 'no waiting at any time' restriction along the north side of Priory Lane, and a 'limited waiting' time of one hour between 8am and 6pm Monday to Saturday in Market Place.
There are also set to be a number of disabled parking places available in Market Place, and some parking places in Priory Lane that have no restrictions placed on them.
"I don't have a problem with the order itself, but I don't think it goes far enough," said Cllr Richard Bridge at Monday's meeting of Snaith Town Council.
"The principle is correct, but it has to be enforced by police, otherwise it won't work."
Cllr Greta Laughton, Snaith Town Mayor, added: "It's got to the stage now that if we don't agree with ERYC's plans, this will go on forever. I think we should give these plans a go."
