Steve - ready to take on a triple challenge.

The manager of a Goole DIY store is getting ready to climb three mountains in 36 hours, including a midnight trip up Scafell Pike.

Steve Hunter, manager at Focus on Rawcliffe Road, is one of several company employees taking part in this year's Three Peaks Challenge, which raises money for the Meningitis Trust.

The gruelling schedule will see participants climbing Snowden on the morning of Friday, June 15, climbing Scafell Pike at 9pm the same day and finally Ben Nevis on the Saturday afternoon.

When the participants are not walking, they will be travelling on the coach, with only brief stops to refuel.

"I've never done anything like this before," he said.

"I've been walking before, but nothing this extreme.

"Scafell Park will be scary because it's night time walking.

"I think the adrenaline will see us through the final one."

After Ben Nevis, the group will have a well-deserved celebratory meal in a hotel.

As his information pack advises, Steve has already started training. He goes cycling at home in Wakefield and jogging around Goole and Airmyn.

"We're up to five miles at the moment,"said Steve, whose family and colleagues are helping to motivate him.

During the weekend of Steve's challenge - June 15 to 17 - staff at the Goole store and throughout the region will be taking part in other fundraising activities, such as fancy dress.

Anybody who wants to sponsor Steve can call him on 01405 726600 or email him at steve.hunter@focusdiy.co.uk
