The Goole and District Mariners' Association has placed a commemorative stone at the Seaman's memorial on Lock Hill in memory of the late Olive Hunt.

Olive was well-known for her charity work and regularly supported the association and its Memorial Garden on Lock Hill.

Ian Blackburn, Goole and District Mariners' Assoc-iation secretary, said: "The Goole and District Mariners found great friendship from Olive and her help and support for the Association was tremendous, enabling us to achieve much of what we have.

"All who wish to visit the commem-orative stone are very welcome, to spend time in reflection and remembrance of a remarkable Goole lady. We would offer our Association's support to any organisation wishing to follow our lead in remembering her." (29-03-43 SU)
