'KFC' seek Goole site

A number of jobs look set to be created in Goole as part of a major expansion programme unveiled by restaurant operator KFC.
More than 1,500 new jobs are likely to be created across Yorkshire, Lincolnshire and the North East with the opening of 50 new KFC restaurants, due to open between north Nottinghamshire and Tyneside in the next ten years.
Goole has been earmarked as a town in which an appropriate site is currently being sought.
The Leeds office of property consultants King Sturge is advising KFC over the researching, identifying and acquisition of the sites for Woking-based Yum Restaurants Ltd, which owns the KFC brand in the UK, and four Yorkshire-based KFC franchisees: Marsden Caterers of Sheffield; Field Rose Ltd, Rotherham; Chicken Cabins Ltd of Ilkley and Intracave of Doncaster.
The restaurants are set to range from 2,000 sq ft to 3,000 sq ft, and will be able to accommodate between 50 and 100 diners in each outlet. Each restaurant is expected to create 35 full and part-time jobs and represent an initial investment of more than £1m.
"This is a very large and aggressive property requirement which reflects Yum Restaurants Ltd's confidence in the northern restaurant market," said Adam Mobley, senior associate with King Sturge's retail and leisure team.
"Preferred locations are new retail and leisure parks but few of these are currently being developed so we are looking at existing retail and leisure parks, edge-of-town sites and edge-of-high street locations with good pedestrian footfall and accessibility."
Yum Restaurants Ltd is continuing the roll out of new outlets after the successful launch of four in Billingham, Doncaster, Sheffield and Cleethorpes in the last 12 months.
