Big brother will be watching

Talking CCTV cameras that are used to name and shame trouble-makers could be coming to Goole if a pilot scheme elsewhere in the East Riding proves successful.
A six-month pilot scheme is to be launched in Bridlington in an effort to reduce assaults, disorder, damage and littering.
The talking CCTV cameras are designed to publicly shame offenders into acting more responsibly if they are caught causing trouble. Humberside Police will be able to give orders or advice before incidents happen, or while they are happening, to discourage escalation.
Six CCTV cameras with loudspeakers are set to be installed in Bridlington for the pilot scheme and, if successful, it could be rolled across other parts of the East Riding, one of which will be Goole.
Cllr Jane Evison from the East Riding of Yorkshire Council, said: "We hope this pilot scheme will be a success and we will have to review its effectiveness at the end of the six-month trial period."
The scheme is due to be launched in the summer by East Riding Nightsafe, part of the East Riding Safe Communities partnership, once £8,000 of Home Office funding has been secured for the initiative.
