Family mourn loss of mine blast victim

The body of the Hensall man has feared to have died in an explosion in a Russian mine has been officially identified.

Ian Robertson (55) was working in a mine in southern Siberia when methane gas exploded on March 19.

Mr Robertson, a senior consultant with engineering consultants White Young Green International, was one of more than 100 people to die in the explosion.

He leaves a wife, Andrea, and three grown-up children.

Canon Cyril Roberts, parish priest of Great Snaith and a family friend, said Mr Robertson's relatives were finding it hard to come to terms with the scale of the tragedy, and wanted to do so among themselves.

Mr Robertson often worked abroad and had not been expected home for about another month.
