Luncheon club

Published on 22nd March 2007 in News

The March meeting of the Goole and District Women's Luncheon Club was held at the Vikings Hotel.

After lunch, president Mrs Ann Barber introduced Mrs Ailsa Bowker, who had kindly 'stepped in' when the speaker who had been booked was ill.

Members were treated to an excellent and fascinating account of Mrs Bowker's time as a lady's companion and secretary to Lady Fortescue. She had spent eighteen months in Provence and it was most interesting to hear about her life there. Mrs Barber thanked her for her talk.
