Arts Centre work postponed as contract still out to tender

The start date for work on Goole's proposed arts centre may have to be put back to July, Goole Town councillors were told on Monday.
The council's arts and leisure manager, Charlie Studdy, said that tenders for the main contract had been sent out but four of the five companies had asked for an extension to the April 5 deadline.
Mr Studdy said: "It was something we wanted to avoid but it was felt an extension should be granted."
The deadline is now April 20, when three members of the council will be present to witness the tenders being registered.
Work was due to start in June but is now likely to begin in July.
Councillors were also updated on the toilet facilities: two new toilets are to be built in the Victorian Hall, on the site of stall number four.
This is a cheaper option than putting them in the market yard.
The project board recommended that the toilets will be free to market traders but market users will pay a small charge via a coin-operated system.
Regarding funding, there has been no news of a decision from Yorkshire Forward (YF) on the final amount of money.
Provision for solar hot water heating has been included in the YF bid, and councillors welcomed this news.
Bio-fuel storage may also be incorporated into the site if funding can be secured.
