The town is to benefit from more than £200,00 in commuted sums it was revealed at a meeting of Goole Town Council yesterday.
The money is due because of a East Riding of Yorkshire Council requirement which obligates housing developers to provide an outdoor play area or, if they cannot, to contribute money to a scheme which promotes recreational activities.
Commuted from five developers by four different developers are due.
Projects can include sports pavilions, children's play equipment, skate parks, sensory gardens and sports equipment but must be within five miles of the development and of benefit to its residents.
Not-for-profit groups with a constitution and bank account and the town council are eligible to apply.
