Up... up and away

More than 500 balloons were released in Swinefleet over Bank Holiday weekend and around ?800 has already been raised for St Andrew's Children's Hospice in Grimsby from the event.

Members of the public paid ?2 to release a balloon into the skies on Sunday, August 27, and there is ?100 prize for the person whose balloon travels the furthest.

Madge Reddall, who organised the race along with Rita Johnson in order to raise funds for the hospice in Grimsby which is struggling at the moment, said that so far, three balloons have returned from three Germany locations - Rheinberg, Lubbecke and Elbingerode.

The balloon which has travelled the furthest will be announced on September 30.
