When can we see plans?
Published on 6th November 2008 in Letters
Sir - Now November 1 has passed we are entering the home straight regarding the long-drawn-out saga of Richard Cooper Street and Phoenix Street.
Sally Burns and her team will be considering the no doubt huge number of expressions of interest in re developing this site, and very quickly Goole will see the variation of projects on offer.
In this time of serious economic downturn and continuing collapse of world-wide financial institutions, at least we are safe in the knowledge that Sally Burns has publicly reassured everyone that this project is on target and, thank goodness, more importantly, on budget.
Could you imagine the embarrassment should Sally Burns not be able to deliver? The resignations that might be called for could include the Chief Executive. There could be compensation claims from local residents who have had to endure the dereliction and those who have not been able to sell their properties because of the blighted area. Ratepayers' groups could be claiming compensation from ERYC councillors for allowing gross misspending, along with personal compensation claims against responsible officers. Previous owners might seek recompense for being threatened with CPOs when none were issued.
No, the thought of not moving ahead as planned is not worth thinking about. So when are the plans on display?
