Filthy town centre littered with glass

Published on 23rd October 2008 in Letters

Sir - What a filth place Goole town centre is. Litter all over the streets and broken beer bottles to cut your feet on - or your pets' - in the underpass near T.S.B. The other Friday you could not walk under it without treading on glass.

What's the point of spending ratepayers' money on an art and culture centre 'that most people don't want' when some people don't even care about the state of the town.

Councillors should get out and walk through it and see, instead of just posing for photos each week for the Goole Times.

It's so dirty every day.

Better use for officer's pay rise?

Sir - No doubt like many others up and down the country the comments made by Russell Brand and Jonathan Ross to Andrew Sachs left a deep feeling of disgust.

'Utter disgrace' of pay rises

Sir - The Goole Branch Labour Party would like to voice our disgust and outrage at the decision to award huge pay increases to the East Riding Council hierarchy.
