Green spaces or used syringes
Published on 18th September 2008 in Letters
Sir - What are we to make of the increasing number of used syringes found in the streets, and the spread of anti-social behaviour around Goole? Is this not the criteria ERYC use to justify demolishing two streets, and replace them with little green areas? Are they perhaps now planning more widespread demolition, and ordering larger sacks of grass seed?
Or, instead of the 8.30am drivepast of Richard Cooper Street and Phoenix Street, why don't they put resources into visiting these areas at night and stamping out these problems and helping these individuals kick their drug habit? If ERYC don't do this they will have pretty little green areas full of needles.

Sir - A friend recently sent me a cutting from your paper headed 'Memories of Claude Campling Goole Ltd'.
There was no date on it but I gather there were two previous pictures which had stirred memories and consequently people had written in with information and had recognised some of the folks in the photo.
My husband, the late Leslie Cotter, was company secretary off C.C (Goole) Ltd but died soon after it closed in 1968.
I am on the photograph (fourth from the right on the back row) next to May Campling and Jack Listow, to May's left. I recognise a few people but forget names.
I remarried in 1992 but still keep up with what are left of my friends and colleagues in Goole.
