How could fire service cope?

Sir - Having seen the reaction by the Spanish Fire Service and ambulance crews to the plane crash in Madrid last week, I feel the need to ask how our local fireÂ force would cope with such a disaster,Â whenÂ there are plans for only one of Goole's fire crews to beÂ retained?

No way would they be there within two minutes for any such emergency.

It's ludicrous to even suggest standing down one crew - especially with all the industrial expansion inÂ place already and others in developmentÂ - these cut-backsÂ might save costs ,but they won't save lives.
