How could fire service cope?
Published on 28th August 2008 in Letters
Sir - Having seen the reaction by the Spanish Fire Service and ambulance crews to the plane crash in Madrid last week, I feel the need to ask how our local fire force would cope with such a disaster, when there are plans for only one of Goole's fire crews to be retained?
No way would they be there within two minutes for any such emergency.
It's ludicrous to even suggest standing down one crew - especially with all the industrial expansion in place already and others in development - these cut-backs might save costs ,but they won't save lives.
