Sir - Do you want to win the Turner Prize, but can't be bothered with art college?

Then become a road layout designer for East Riding of Yorkshire Council. With its coloured squares, rectangles and bold straight lines, Boothferry Road now resembles the work of Dutch abstract artist Piet Mondrian, and it's rumoured that an American billionaire and the Tate Modern have already submitted bids for its purchase.

I'm convinced there is a secret department at County Hall, Beverley whose mission is to make Goole and its people look as idiotic as possible.

What have they got planned next? Perhaps the introduction of a Goole Town anthem, with music and lyrics courtesy of Ivor Biggun.
