Welcome to Goole?
Published on 14th August 2008 in Letters
Sir - The so-called cycle lane on Boothferry Road in Goole is a huge waste of paint and will lull inexperienced cyclists into a false sense of security.
If the ERYC wanted to make things safer for cyclists they have failed miserably. The other traffic-calming measures recently carried out in the town have made it impossible to put cycle lanes down other roads due to the silly bits that stick out into the road, so alternative routes are not an option.
So, true to form, our council has in my view let us down again - like it has with the fire service, like it has with Phoenix Street etc, etc. If they are planning to replace the ropey signs on the outskirts of the town, might I suggest a slogan 'Welcome to Goole - Ar***ole of the East Riding'?
