Quest for relatives

Published on 14th August 2008 in Letters

Sir - I am writing to you as a complete 'long shot' and wonder if your newspaper can help,or at least point me in the right direction.

I am looking for my family on my father's side, who come from the Goole area. I have never met my aunt (my father's sister) nor her children (my cousins) - if she has any.

My father, Harold Roy Atkinson, died at the age of 47 in Cheltenham, Gloucestershire. My mother refuses to tell me about my father's family because of a fall-out.

I think my aunt's name is/was Ethel, but I'm not sure and I don't know her married name (if indeed she married).

My father was born in 1930, I believe, and married my mother - her maiden name was Myrtle Doreen Watts.

Is it possible for you to please print my story in case any reader recognises themselves or the names I mention?

My full name is Desiree Carol Atkinson and I'm an only child, as far as I know. Any information can be passed to yourselves and then onto me.

I would be pleased to hear from anyone who may be able to help. I feel I can't try the records office because I'm not 100 per cent sure of my aunt's first name, her marital status, or the names of her children, if any.

Desi Atkinson

(Miss Atkinson has supplied her contact details. We would be happy to pass on any information to her that readers may be able to give. - Editor)
