Rockfest is here soon

The Goole Rockfest rolls into town on Saturday week and promises to deliver one of the best line ups of UK tribute bands.

As well as hosting first-class entertainment the festival, which is taking place inside a marquee on West Park, is also supporting the 'Goole Gift Campaign for Heroes'. Darren Smith, founder of the gift campaign, thinks the Rockfest is a great opportunity for local people to enjoy themselves whilst supporting the hardworking troops:

"Obviously, when people read the word festival they think of Glastonbury etc, however the Goole Rockfest is not like that at all - it is a chance for families to enjoy live music and see tribute bands which are as good as the real thing.

"The Goole Gift Campaign will have a stall there so it's your chance to find out what we are about.  Most importantly the Goole Rockfest is a proven formula for a good family time and hopefully if this event is a success we can turn this into an annual event so please support this event because when you do you will be supporting our troops!"

Some of the country's best tribute acts are set to perform at the festival including Foo Fighters tribute the Four Fighters who play all the famous US bands hits such as 'Monkey Wrench', 'This is the call', 'I'll Stick Around' and much more. If you are a U2 fan, why not come along to the festival and watch the next best thing perform live? New2 are regulars on the festival circuit and have been wowing the crowds with their exact delivery of Bono and The Edge's songs such as 'With or Without You', 'Elevation', 'Vertigo', 'One', 'Desire', 'Where the Streets' plus many more from their extensive back catalogue.

New2 lead singer and Bono look-alike, Frank Farnas, said he is excited to be playing at Goole: "These festivals are great as the crowds are really up for it and as it is inside a marquee it doesn't matter what the UK weather is doing as everyone inside is rocking to the music.

"I'm in my element when we come on stage to give the crowd a full U2 set of great songs, I feel privileged to perform the songs and we certainly entertain so we can't wait for Goole Rockfest to happen."

As well as the tribute bands there will be a selection of talented local bands performing on the day including Strangers who originate from Goole, Vintage Watts and The Ram Raid who deliver amazing covers of hits from Thin Lizzy to Guns n Roses.

Also organisers are still keeping quiet about their special surprise guest but Heroes revealed that the mystery act has won a Brit award and are still performing today. Along with the music inside the marquee there is also a licensed bar selling drinks at £2 all day.

Outside there will be a fenced food/beer garden providing tasty snacks and drinks so you can keep your energy levels up and keep rocking until the festival ends at 11.45pm

The fun starts at 1pm and tickets are priced at £15 for over 16s and £12 for those aged 7 to 15. Children aged up to six years are free when accompanied by an adult.
