Access road is an 'absolute disgrace'

Sir - As a resident of Gilberdyke and a member of the Bowls Club, I read with concern your article regarding the access road and car park to the Sports Field. I consider both the road and car park to be an absolute disgrace and a total embarrassment to the village when visiting teams come to play.
The ultimate answer must be to resurface the road and car park sooner rather than later. The chalk chippings make a good base for a road but are totalling unsuitable for a top surface therefore my major concern is that very soon the road will become impassable to most vehicles, unless you are fortunate to own or your employers to provide you with a 4x4. Immediate action is required before someone makes a claim for damages to their suspension or underside of their vehicle.
I attended the AGM of the Parish Council approximately two months ago, when the issue was raised and received a fairly negative response from most of the Parish Councillors. However, at that time Mr Norris did state that the council would examine the deeds and leases relating to the property to establish who was responsible for the access road and car park. It is most disappointing that this has not even been done at this stage.
I am aware that a figure of £20,000 has been put aside initially for further land at the Sports Field, but now diverted for the Village Hall at some time in the future, but I feel that this merely fudges the issue.
The fact is that action is required now to the access road, so come on Gilberdyke Parish Council do what you were elected to do and work for the benefit of the entire village, rather than trying to dodge this issue.
