Special day at hospital

Published on 10th July 2008 in Letters

Sir - On Saturday, July 5, Goole and District Hospital held a celebration day to mark its 20 years of being open.

Although the weather could have been kinder, the event was moved indoors and a lot of people turned out to help us celebrate. We, the staff on ward 3, were responsible for the raffle. So with a great deal of help from Joanne and her husband Andy we proceeded to approach local businesses for donations of any kind. The response was fantastic, better than we ever imagined.

We also made up hampers of drinks, food and gifts donated by our own staff and families. So may we, through you newspaper, say a big thank you to everyone for your help and donations, especially all the local businesses who have been so generous in their donations.

A total for the day hasn't been announced as yet but we think the raffle raised in excess of £500. A list of winning numbers is situated in the hospital foyer.
