Village needs a bomb

Published on 10th July 2008 in Letters

Sir - A large bomb would be the solution to the traffic problem in Airmyn described in last week's letter on the Readers' Page ('Why is van parked on corner?). A bomb not for the bouncy castle van but to blow up the road just to the west of the village.

This would stop the hundreds of vehicles and tractors speeding through the village as a short-cut, lots the drivers of lots of which seem to have an ear problem, having one hand held up to their ear while talking to themselves.

It would also stop all the garden and household waste spread through the village going to the tip, or whatever they call it these days, also all the litter from McDonalds - and probably cut crime by about 50 per cent.

What a good solution!

Letter clarification

Last week the Goole Times printed a letter about Goole Amateur Operatic and Dramatic Society ('Listen to the people' - page six).

Better use for officer's pay rise?

Sir - No doubt like many others up and down the country the comments made by Russell Brand and Jonathan Ross to Andrew Sachs left a deep feeling of disgust.
