On the letters page of the 24th January 2008 issue of "The Goole Times" we published a letter under the heading "Fire at house was not a surprise" which contained grave allegations that the Sterling Capitol group of companies was responsible for recent fire damage to the property at New Potter Grange, Goole and that the Sterling Capitol group of companies were willing to resort to criminal action to secure their commercial objectives.

We recognise that there was no foundation whatsoever to these allegations and we sincerely regret that they were ever made. We are happy to take this opportunity of correcting our error and expressing to Sterling Capitol plc and Sterling Capitol Goole Ltd our regret for any distress, embarrassment and damage caused to them and their business reputations by the publication of the letter.
