Sir - I am grateful to T. Poulton for highlighting the non-acceptance of Kelloggs vouchers for free swimming sessions at Goole Leisure Centre. (Readers' Page, June 5).

The voucher states that they are valid at "participating" pools and guides the holder towards their website for further information.

Having accessed the 'Pool Locator', I was surprised to learn that although a number of Hull City Council run pools participated, the East Riding pools were conspicuous by their absence.

This indicates that not only Goole is losing out, but also other towns and villages in the whole county are also losing out.

I have asked our East Riding councillors to investigate if Goole Leisure Leisure was asked to participate by Kelloggs, and will await their reply before making any premature criticism.

I must close by stressing that Goole Town Council has absolutely no jurisdiction over the running of Goole Leisure Centre.

Kevin Flynn (Cllr)

Goole Town Mayor

Westminster Court,

Goole
