Sir - With reference to the letter complaining about vans parking in Langrick Avenue at Howden, has the writer given a thought that the work vans might be there for a reason, work! If they are parked there for a length of time, then just think of the money they are saving in council expenditure, slowing the traffic down, no need for speed humps and the like.

Before the intervention of the said parked vans down Langrick Avenue, it used to be like a drag strip for wanabee boy racers. It was only a matter of time before somebody, or something, got run over. Think positive, not negative.

I'm sorry, but the wheelchair view is also grossly exaggerated - that's unless you've had quadruplets with a four-abreast pram. As for struggling to manoeuvre past the said vehicles, I have had no problem with my large car every time I have been past.

May I suggest a licence retest or an eye sight test, one or the other. You might buy one, get one free.
