Do I want more of same?
Sir - The government must have been expecting the embarrassing defeats they got last Thursday. But maybe not - the few minor dealings I have had with our local MP have been very eye-opening. I have written to Ian Cawsey on a few occasions on local and national matters and one thing has been consistent in all Ian's replies, if the party's view differs from that of the constituent who voted for Ian to represent his views (me), then that was the end of the story.
But now the government are going to listen to the people. It won't happen and it's too late - they should have been listening from the start of their reign. I would say to the people of Goole, look around you: derelict buildings, post office closures, Timms mill, highest council tax in East Yorkshire, Phoenix Street fiasco etc, etc. Then have a look round other towns the size of Goole in Yorkshire and, when the time comes to put your X in the box, think: "Do I want more of the same?"
