Selby has 3 stores

Published on 21st February 2008 in Letters

Sir - Recently the Competition Commission recommended that increased measures should be taken to curb the power of supermarkets, especially the domination by one of the leading supermarkets in one town.

These powers may be too little too late. Goole is a Tesco town. We have very little choice and no competition, especially compared with Selby that has a similar population, but has three supermarkets Tesco, Morrisons and Somerfields.

I hope that these increased powers will enable and encourage another supermarket to establish itself in Goole.
