Sir - My friends and I heartily concur with the sentiments expressed in the letter from A. Lloyd (Goole Times, February 7) regarding Tesco.

We travel in each Friday using the excellent Gofar service. Since early September last year we have become of the opinion that the service offered at Tesco has deteriorated rapidly. If we were able, many of us would shop elsewhere.

Empty shelves are a fact. We frequently see food that goes out of date on the day you shop. We have even seen 'Freshly-baked food' that is out of date on the previous day! Often the aisles are filled with cages with assistants standing in a huddle and busily gossiping.

Another decent supermarket would provide healthy competition and fog Goole Tesco store out of its complacency.
