Town needs second supermarket

Published on 7th February 2008 in Letters

Sir - Good for Tesco, which now has doubles the space for Polish food. Now do the same for us that were born here.

On Sunday, at 11.15am, I go into Tesco's in Goole for my weekly shopping, but what do I find - most of the shelves empty, with a sign saying 'out of stock'. For a main supermarket, it's not good enough.

I for one think it's time the council go off their backside and did something. We need a second supermarket in Goole. We pay the highest rates, so let's see something for them. But there again, this is Goole in 2008, so we will carry on going out of town for our weekly shopping.

Wake up, Goole. We need a decent supermarket in town, not a second-class one.
