Politicians, please note

Published on 17th January 2008 in Letters

Sir - The Readers' Page is getting bogged down with political bickering.

It is a well-known fact that politicians are unable to answer the question they have been asked, and if an answer is forthcoming which has any bearing on the subject being discussed, economy with the truth is usually the order of the day.

Why use the Readers' Page for party politics? Why not interview these people and do an article, and see if you are able to get any straight answers as to why Timms mill is still an eyesore; why Phoenix Street and Richard Cooper Street are still standing, or not refurbished; when will we get proper access to Oak Hill; and who in Goole wants an arts centre in place of the market hall (not me, for one. If the council had anything about them all the stalls would be let and it would make Goole town centre thrive).

Please, politicians of Goole and East Riding, get on with sorting the town out and leave the Reader's Page for ordinary folk to have their say.
