Is this concern, or political spin?

Published on 28th December 2007 in Letters

Sir - There seems to be no limits to the spin of local Labour politicians. Goole's Labour MP claims to be angry that the decision to close Westfield Avenue Post Office has now been confirmed.

That's strange, because he didn't seem quite so angry on January 10 of this year when he voted for a motion in Parliament supporting the Government's closure programme. That motion actually said that the Post Office network was too big, and Mr Cawsey loyally voted for it.

If he were quite so angry, perhaps he would like to explain to the people of Goole why he has loyally supported a Government which has scrapped pension books, stopped Post Offices selling TV licences and which created the very framework which is now been used to justify the closure of Westfield Avenue.

I am sure local people will not be taken in by Labour's shameless spin, which has more to do with their precarious electoral position in the Brigg and Goole constituency than it does with genuine concern.
