A Stainforth man who was a regular contributor to the Goole Times' Readers' Page passed away last week at the age of 97 and his grandson has given him an appropriate send-off by paying tribute through our very own Letters Page.

Dave Nutt said that his grandfather, Joseph Samuel Wilson of Stainforth, was a well-liked man who was known as 'Sam' to everyone. He lived in the Swinefleet area at one time..

Dave told us: "I know he got great pleasure from the banter with your other 'regulars' and was proud of all his cuttings from the Goole Times.

"Whether son, daughter, granddaughter, grandson or whoever, he was known as Sam to everyone and was a real character... there's not many of them left."

Mr Wilson's funeral took place last Friday at Stainforth Parish Church.
