The fight goes on

Published on 5th July 2007 in Letters

Sir - Thank you to everyone who signed my petition to try and keep Bartholomew House open. Thank you also to Coggraves Chemist, the Goole Times and Chappelows for housing the petition forms.

I handed the petition over to Dave Knapp from the Humber Mental Health Trust on Friday, June 22. There were nearly 400 signatures on the petition. Earlier on in the day the carers had handed in their petition which had almost 800 signatures.

In a town that is often accused of apathy, I think to raise this level of response shows how much Bartholomew House is needed. A report was to be prepared by Dave Knapp for the board who met on July 25. Soon after that date the report that goes to them will be available on the Humber Mental Health Trust website.

I would like to say thank you to everyone who signed our petition for none closure of Bartholomew House, in the precinct and Oxford Road. Also the paper shop and food shop on Gatesby Road. We have not given up the fight. Thank you.
