Demolition could put up insurance costs

Published on 28th June 2007 in Letters

Sir - House insurance premiums for residents in Marshfield Road and Hook Road in Goole could be set to soar when ERYC demolish the Adelphi warehouse. With their plan to lower the wall to two metres or less and leave all the unsecured property in Richard Cooper Street and Phoenix Street I believe it will become an open invitation to thieves.

Two months ago, at the very well-attended GTC meeting, Ms Sally Burns publicly promised that all residents would be informed and told of ERYC plans. Once again it appears ERYC have been selective about whom they inform and contact.

If residents read their house insurance policies they may find that with such a dramatic change in security they will have to notify their insurance company - and premiums could go up by £100 per year.

I believe this may be reclaimable from ERYC so act now to ensure you have adequate insurance cover.
