What has council done for Goole?

Published on 5th April 2007 in Letters

Sir - I am writing in response to Paul Thompson's letter on the Readers' Page (March 29) entitled 'Hang Your Heads in Shame'.

I must say I wholeheartedly agree with the points he makes. I will add that I hope he and others take up the call to sort this out on May 3, 2007 at the local elections. It is time for a change, it is time to send out a message to these political parties that we will no longer accept their kind of politics. By that I mean blame each other for everything that's gone wrong.

They do behave like schoolchildren, squabbling and bickering over everything, toeing the party line, attempting to score political points. It is time to send a clear message to these parties that we will no longer tolerate this.

I urge Mr Thompson and all people of Goole to back independent candidates in the upcoming elections. Let's vote in people who care about Goole and local areas; who will deal with issues and not just spout the party line at every available opportunity.

Let's get some new faces in: they can't be any worse than the old faces who keep getting re-elected to achieve the same as always, a great big NOTHING.
