Brainless individuals

Published on 5th April 2007 in Letters

Sir - How beautiful the daffodils in The Ashes in Howden have been this spring. A source of joy and inspiration to all that saw them, except the brainless individuals who decided it was fun to pluck off their heads and throw them onto the Bowling Green. This kind of stupid vandalism both angers and saddens me. One wonders what type of adult these children will ultimately become, always assuming that children were responsible? I am utterly fed up with people saying that the reason for these idiotic antics is "there is nothing for the young people to do". In my opinion there are more organised activities for young people than in any previous generation. However, I am sorry to say that there will always be those who would rather destroy what others enjoy than get involved with sport or other worthwhile activities.
