Do we need Town Council?

Published on 29th March 2007 in Letters

Sir -In respect of the Goole Town Council's meeting where the proposal to build new toilets in the Victorian Market Hall was discussed, with the amendment voted through by those councillors present that traders would get them free and the public would pay to use them, I think it's scandalous.

We used to have ten free public toilets in Goole, we're now down to one. I think the time has come when the Goole public should find a way of getting rid of Goole Town Council and let the East Riding Council run things. After all, when Goole was part of Humberside we managed okay without one. It would also save every householder in the town and round about a hundred pounds a year in Council Tax.
