Lazy drivers cause problems

Sir - I refer to last week's article "Are double yellow lines the answer?" and wonder if Cllr. Boatman lives in the same Goole as I do.
Or has he identified a new type of Yellow Lines containing magical powers which deter drivers from parking on them? In the Westfield Avenue Post Office area there are a number of double yellow lines which are totally ignored by selfish drivers who appear to go unpunished.
I am sure there are several other areas in the town with similar problems. The trigger for the offenders appears to be cash machines, post offices, post boxes, paper shops, launderettes, bread/sandwich shops and/or schools. Could it be that there is a special Goole edition of the Highway Code of which I am unaware and that these double yellow lines become null and void where one or more of the above exists (I believe the use of hazard warning lights also has the same effect)?
In reality, it is just that people are too lazy to park legally and walk the extra ten or twenty yards which would allow others to use the roads more safely. It isn't just heavy traffic that has the problem, Cllr Boatman, it is all users of our roads and pavements whose safety is at risk.
