Tesco's parking system 'flawed'
Published on 14th December 2006 in Letters
Sir - In reply to an article in the Goole Times entitled 'Tesco parking warning after customer mix up', I too received a letter from Tesco's threatening a fine. It is said that "on November 13, 2006 between 08.32 and 18.05 my vehicle was parked longer than the time limit in Tesco's car park".
On the said date I was actually at work from 8.30am to 5pm as a ward nurse clerk at Goole Hospital. However, I did oversleep that morning and didn't leave the house until approximately 8.25. When I pulled out onto Boothferry Road the level crossing gates were down so, to avoid wasting time, I turned left into Tesco's car park and exited onto Pasture Road.
I finished work just after 5pm and went to Tesco's to do some shopping. I entered the car park via Pasture Road and left via the Boothferry Road exit.
I did contact the Parking Helpline and explained what I did that day. The lady was very helpful and said she would e-mail the car-parking people and get the warning deleted from their system.
However, there must be a flaw in the system somewhere that does need addressing before other people find themselves in this frustrating situation.
