Shipbuilding days are long gone
Published on 7th December 2006 in Letters
Sir - I have, over the past couple of months, been reading with interest the letters printed on this page concerning the proposed Tescos R.D.C. warehouse being built in my home town of Goole.
Does Mr Dean, for one, not realise the great times of ship building in our town are long gone? I for one would love to be given the chance to work in my home town again and for such a company with Tesco's reputation. I have, for the past 16 years, had to travel 32 miles down the M62 to Wakefield leaving home at 04.00 hours to earn a decent wage at an R.D.C. for the Morrisons supermarket chain.
I'm sure Tesco would listen to any suggestions to protect the wildlife living on the proposed site. So come on you councillors on the Planning Committee let's give Tesco a chance.
