Jazz star swings into Howden

Music fans have the chance to see the best in New York jazz next weekend.
Celebrated American jazz singer Roseanna Vitro brings a wealth of experience, swing, melodic improvisation and heartfelt expression to the jazz idiom.
On Saturday, December 2, her unique sound and style will be on display at the Shire Hall in Howden, where she will be performing with her trio, Robin Aspland on piano, Simon Woolf on bass and New York drummer, Adrian D'Sousa.
Roseanna combines vibrant energy and spirit with a deep understanding of the elements of jazz. Raised in Texarkana, Arizona, she spent her early career in Houston where she was mentored by the great saxophonist, Arnett Cobb.
Her numerous CDs illustrate her soulful southern roots and feature accompaniment by many jazz stars including, Elvin Jones,''Fat Head'' Newman, George Coleman, Kenny Barron, Kenny Werner, Gary Bartz and Fred Hersch. She has performed with super pianist Oscar Peterson and toured with the great Lionel Hampton. A regular performer at New York's, Blue Note, Fat Tuesday's, Birdland and The Five Spot, she has also appeared in concert at New York's Town Hall. This is a great opportunity for jazz fans to see New York's best.
