Win tickets for Horrid Henry

Published on 23rd October 2008 in Ents

Hull New Theatre will be providing a great half-term treat for kids this October, when Horrid Henry: Live and Horrid! comes to the city on October 29 - November 1.

Based on the much-loved books by Francesca Simon and on the hugely popular CITV series, the play features Henry, Mum, Dad, Perfect Peter, Moody Margaret, Rude Ralph and the Purple Hand Gang in recognisable adventures from the books and television series.

Described as a Just William for the 21st century, Horrid Henry: Live and Horrid has been brought from page to stage by acclaimed playwright John Godber, author of Teechers, Bouncers, Up 'n' Under, On the Piste and many other plays, to help make this an occasion not to be missed.

Since 1993, when the first book was published, Horrid Henry has become a publishing phenomenon - the series has sold over 12 million copies in the UK alone and has been published in 25 languages in 27 countries worldwide.

The latest book in the series, Horrid Henry Robs the Bank, hit the number one slot when it was published in summer 2008 and Francesca Simon was the recipient of the Children's Book of the Year Award at the 2008 Galaxy British Book Awards for Horrid Henry and the Abominable Snowman. Horrid Henry is also a top-rating CITV cartoon series made by Novel Entertainment.

This funny, fast-moving and distinctively theatrical adaptation will be immediately recognisable to fans of the books and TV series and promises to keep audiences in Hull entertained all night.

Tickets for Horrid Henry are priced at: £8 - £12.50, with concessions available for school groups and can be purchased from the Hull City Council Booking Office under the Hull City Hall, Carr Lane, Hull or by visiting www.hullcc.gov.uk/hullnewtheatre.
