Floyd tribute act

Published on 25th September 2008 in Ents

The World's most respected Pink Floyd tribute act, FLOYD2, will appear at Howden Shire Hall on Friday, October 3.

Fans of the super group Pink Floyd are in for a real treat if they can manage to get along to see this seven piece band.

The north-east based outfit have quickly built up a desirable reputation, for their precise sound, fantastic lighting show and pyrotechnics, including a 46 foot wide wall, performing tracks from The Division Bell album back to Meddle.

They already have performed at prestigious venues in Birmingham, Sheffield and Crewe but are equally happy to tone down their 'big' sound and perform at smaller theatres. Lead guitarist and founder member Chris Goodband has been listening to and playing Floyd for more years than he cares to remember.

He's a well-known face on the circuit, having performed with many north east household names. He's pulled together a fantastic group of musicians, including most recent acquisition, backing singer Heather Walker who has performed with Leo Sayer, Gloria Gaynor, Huey Lewis, Hazel Dene to name but a few, and her debut at The Studio in Hartlepool was greeted with enthusiasm by the mesmerised audience.

The professionalism of the band and the road crew is exceptional, as can be witnessed by the fact that their stage can take up to six hours to set-up.Accolades are already flowing into their website as well as many personal commendations. One from an aging rocker stated: "You've made an old man very happy. I've been going to concerts since 1967 and last night's performance was in the top five along with Springsteen, Tull, Floyd and Zeppelin."

Tickets for the event are priced at £10.

Also appearing on Saturday, October 4, are the Karen Sharpe Quintet, a long standing member of Humphrey Lyttleton's band, Karen's band and also feature trombone star Mark Nightingale.

An enjoyable night of swinging accessible jazz with a varied and entertaining mix of standards, some lesser known tunes, and original compositions is promised.

On Friday, October 10 the much anticipated return of Snake Davis and The Suspicions, the ultimate Northern Soul band.

Opportunity to see this fantastic group on a rare showing. Tickets are £15.

Tickets for all these events are available from the Shire Hall box office on 01430 432510. (25-09-73 SU)
