Local fans of Disney's Beauty and the Beast will be delighted to hear that the much-loved musical will be returning to Hull New Theatre from September 17 - 27, following its hugely popular visit in 2005.

Beauty and the Beast features Mrs Potts and Chip, the hilarious double act Lumiere and Cogsworth, Gaston the town hero and, of course, the beautiful Belle and fearsome yet kind-hearted Beast. The enchantingly romantic story takes audiences from a small provincial town in France, through the shadow-filled woods to the Beast's mysterious castle, all accompanied by the well-loved songs including Be Our Guest, Human Again and Beauty and the Beast.

Matthew Cammelle, who previously played the title role in the West End production of Phantom of the Opera, plays the Beast alongside Ashley Oliver as Belle. They are joined in other leading roles by Ben Harlow (Gaston), Tania Newton (Mrs Potts), Ashley Knight (Cogsworth), Ben Stock (Lumiere), Conleth Kane (Lefou) and Louise Lenihan (Babette).

Seen by over 25 million people worldwide and nominated for nine Tony Awards, including Best Musical, this sumptuous, eye-popping theatrical phenomenon has wowed audiences worldwide with critically acclaimed, record-breaking runs in London, New York, Los Angeles, Toronto, Sydney and Tokyo. It now returns with a new UK tour having visited Kuala Lumpur and Dublin for resident seasons during 2008.

Audiences are advised not to miss this enchanting tale which promises to offer a night of great family entertainment and to take them on a journey into this wonderful fairy tale.

Tickets for Beauty and the Beast are priced at: £9 - £29 and can be purchased from the Hull City Council Booking Office under the Hull City Hall, Carr Lane, Hull or by visiting www.hullcc.gov.uk/hullnewtheatre. Alternatively, call the booking and information line on 01482 226655.
