Oaks welcome junior Pro-Am event

Published on 14th August 2008 in Ents

Juniors throughout the region were amazed when they entered the Junior Pro-Am at The Oaks to find they were teamed up with tour Players from Walker's Golf Academy at The Oaks.

Graham Walker's stable of tour Players turned out in force to say thanks to Graham and The Oaks for providing them with an oasis where they can come down to work and relax when preparing for their European and Challenge Tour commitments.

Georgina Simpson also took time out of her busy schedule to play with a team of young ladies from Cleckheaton golf club.

The ladies' team event was won by home team from The Oaks of Lysa Jones (Oaks Senior Teaching Profess-ional) with Megan Garland, Olivia Winning and Amelia Seels. Lysa also tied to win the ladies' individual prize with LET player Georgina Simpson.

Iain Pyman won the individual prize, with a new course record of 66, with Danny Willett and Gareth Davies tying at 67 and Oliver Whiteley fourth 68.

The main team event was won by Chris Hanson with his team from Crossland Heath of J. Bower, J. Woodhead and girl player Rochelle Morris.

Our photographs show Danny Willett waiting for Iain to add up his score on the 18th!, Danny with his team on the 18th green, the Yorkshire PGA, led by Jimmy Paper double checking all the scores and Oliver Whiteley with his team of girls, Charlotte Austwick, Ellie Robinson and Kim Crook who play off 1, 1 & 4 handicaps, keeping tour pro Olly on his toes!

It was very encouraging to see so many girls taking part.
