League side are dominant

A magnificent century by Acomb's Andy Tute set up a 158-run victory for the Hunters York Senior League over The Dales Council and enabled the York side to qualify for the final of the Nixon Yorkshire Inter-League K.O. competition which they last won in 2006.

Batting first at Drighlington, the York League openers Tute and Matt Beckett of Stamford Bridge put their side in total command with a 171-run opening stand which was totally dominated by Tute.

When he was out after hitting nine sixes in a 101-ball innings he had amassed 151, which is believed to be a record score for a York player in a representative game.

His partner Beckett made 39 before the innings was further boosted by Goole Town captain Neil Foster (above 24-05-56 GT), whose 41 helped York reach a total of 305-7.

Ali Asgher, with 3-70, was the most successful bowler for the host league.

In reply Suri hit 65 for the Dales Council but a good all-round bowling display had them all out for 147.

Hornsea captain Richard Medforth emerged with the best return of 3-33 whilst Tute added 2-15 to his earlier heroics and there were two wickets apiece for Thirsk's Dave Towse 2-35 and Barry Sayer of Clifton Alliance who took 2-44.
