Published on 14th August 2008 in Ents

Goole Rockfest is here in town this coming Saturday.

Organised by local firm Fake Festivals, the Rockfest will take place in a specially erected marquee in West park in aid of the Gift Campaign for Heroes.

Inside the marquee there will be a stage where eight acts plus celebrity lookalikes will perform, starting at 1.00pm and finishing at 11.45pm.

Headlining the festival are some of the UK's top tribute acts who have been on the entertainment circuit for many years.

New2 a delivers a true tribute to U2 with Bono lookalike Frank Farkas as lead singer. The band have found success touring with well established acts such as Blondie and Ocean Colour Scene as well as performing for Sir Bob Geldof.

Another band taking to the stage at the Rockfest is The Foo Fighters tribute The Four Fighters who have been performing together for many years and have gradually built up a huge following.

Grimsby-based band 'Basketcase', a tribute to US band 'Greenday', will also be headlining the event. The band play all Greenday's popular hits including 'American Idiot', 'When September Ends', 'Jesus of Surburbia' and many more.

Lead singer and Billy Joe Armstrong lookalike Kris Edwards said: "We are ready for the Goole Festival I just hope Goole are ready for us! The festivals have been amazing so far and I think Goole is going to be one of the best as we have a fantastic line up. Expect to see the full Greenday makeup, clothes and stage presence and a set list that will blow you away."

A number of local bands have also been signed up to perform at the event including 'Vintage Watts', 'Velvet Star' and 'Strangers'.

Organisers are still keeping a tight lip about their surprise artist, who will take to the stage at around 6pm, but have said he or she is one of the UK's top lookalike tribute artist.

Also on the day there will be a licensed bar in the marquee serving drinks and outside the marquee there will be food stands and access to toilets.

Festival organiser Jez Lee said: "The beauty of the layout of the festivals is that it enables people to come and go as they please by use of the entry wristband system we operate. Once festival goers have their wristbands on they can enter the marquee and exit whenever they like so if people want to come early with their kids and then leave later in the afternoon to drop them with a sitter and return for the rest of the evenings entertainment they are welcome to do so."

Tickets for the event are in the form of wrist bands allowing people to exit and enter the marquee as often as they like. To buy a wristband log onto www.fakefestival.co.uk or visit Mobile Phone Zone on Pasture Road, Goole. Tickets are £15 for overs 16ís and £12 for 7-15 year olds. (0-6 free with adult).
